Hekari United FC pulls out of NSL competition

Hekari United FC has pulled out of the Telikom National Soccer League (NSL) competition.

This was announced today by Chairman of Hekari, John Kapi Natto.

“Today, Hekari has officially resigned from the NSL,” said Kapi Natto.

Hekari Soccer Association was one of seven associations that were recently suspended by the PNG Football Association.

This was questioned by Kapi Natto who made the decision to withdraw Hekari- the nine-time winners of the NSL title from the semi-professional competition.

He added that Hekari will not take part in the  Oceania Football Confederation Champions League in 2017 in New Caledonia.

“Someone has to sacrifice. Enough is enough. We don’t mind starting all over again,” said Kapi Natto.

Kapi Natto, who is one of the founders of the NSL said he had received calls from several NSL clubs yesterday saying they will follow suit.

“Erema Gulf FC will pull out from the NSL. Rapatona has pulled out from the NSL. Admiralty which comes from the Manus Soccer Association is also finished.

“From the biggest association in the Lae Football Association are two franchise clubs- the Lae City Dwellers and Morobe United.

“Morobe United has now withdrawn their participation. Gigira Laitepo have pulled out their sponsorship and will not participate next year, said Kapi Natto.
