Double gold for PNG’s Toea Wisil at the Australian Athletics Championships

The fastest woman in the Pacific, Papua New Guinea’s Toea Wisil, is now a double champion of Australia after taking out both the 100 metres and 200 metres titles at the Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney.
It was an impressive performance by the PNG runner in difficult conditions that hampered her efforts to achieve qualifying times for the World Championships which take place in London later in the year.
Toea Wisil’s co-coach, Tony Fairweather, says they were confident about her chances in the 100 metres, but it was in the 200 metres final where she really excelled.
