New National Court Complex to cost K400m
May 15, 2017 – Post Courier
CHIEF Justice Sir Salamo Injia officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony of the new court complex of the National Judiciary last Friday.
The main construction site, worth more than K400 million, is being constructed by China Railway Construction and Engineering.
Sir Salamo said the judiciary would like to have the building completed before 2018 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Summit so that it would be commissioned during that time.
He said the building had to be completed on time and within budget.
China Railway Construction and Engineering managing director Sean Lau said his company is committed to ensure that the complex is built to the highest standards and reflects the chief justice’s vision of a plan for the 21st century court complex that will complement the many reforms taking place within the judiciary.
Finance deputy secretary Dominic Ira has assured the department’s support with procurement processes and ensured the completion of the project.
Initial work on the project had started in early 2015.
