New Zealand Supports Papua New Guinea by funding the Eight Proposals
On behalf of the Papua New Guinea government, Hon Justin Tkatchenko thanked the New Zealand government for the initiative taken to support Papua New Guinea as the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) host for 2018. The total support that the New Zealand government will be giving over the next 12 months is NZ$15 million a substantial amount of money for many different areas not just for APEC but all the different meetings from security to logistics and protocol.
The Minister for APEC said, already we’ve had hundreds of our Papua New Guinean protocol staff being professionally trained by the Foreign Affairs protocol division of the New Zealand government which improves the ability and the professionalism of our people when it comes to protocol settings and be leaving a lasting legacy as well for future events and for future protocol issues.
New Zealand was one of the first economies to support the Papua New Guinea’s bid to host APEC 2018. High Commissioner Sue Mackwell said, we are extremely excited to continue to support Papua New Guinea as it prepares for a very special event .
